A few villagers from Gudipadu and some other commuters who were travelling to Mydukur on a private auto on Wednesday evening at 7 pm, were hit by a lorry going towards Kurnool, the police said.
In this fatal accident, five persons died on the spot. Three persons were identified as Gudipadu villagers, while two others are yet to be identified, the police said.
Out of the eight injured, three were seriously injured and the remaining five sustained minor injuries, the police said.
The Duvur police which has registered a case is investigating. Details are being awaited.
