Five Pakistani men, alleged to be 'agents' of India's external intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing, have been acquitted over lack of evidence by an anti-terrorism court here.
The five who were allegedly affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement party were arrested in 2015 from Gulistan-e-Jauhar by the Anti-Terrorism Department of Sindh police.
They were charged with carrying subversive activities to destabilise the country.
The Anti Terrorism Court court acquitted Muhammad Shafiq, Abdul Jabbar, Mohsin Khan, Khalid Aman and Adil Ansar for lack of evidence.
The ATC judge after cross-examining the prosecution and defence witnesses and hearing arguments of lawyers concluded there was no evidence to confirm that the five accused were in any way affiliated with RAW.
Since last year, several supporters and members of the MQM London which represents the Urdu speaking population have been arrested on charges of working for India.
