The accident occurred when the woman and her children were crossing the road while returning home after attending a function in a neighbouring village.
The victims were identified as Rajkali Devi, wife of Panna Lal Ram of Pusauni Khen village, her two minor sons--Rahul (4) and Vikash (2) and daughters -- Radhika (10) and Rubi (6).
Locals caught the driver of the jeep and handed him over to the police. They also blocked NH 28 demanding compensation for the family of the victims.
