Flier held at IGIA for carrying over 140 gold coins

Security agencies today intercepted a flier at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here for carrying over 140 gold coins in his hand baggage.
Officials said the man, coming in from Mumbai, has been identified as H Fahad and was first apprehended by CISF sleuths at the airport around noon, based on inputs from their counterparts in the western metropolis.
"The person had a total of 143 gold coins in his bag weighing about 4 kilogramme and he has been handed over to the Income Tax department officials at the IGIA. They are investigating the case further and trying to ascertain if the coins were legally being transported," they said.

Agencies deployed at country's civil airports, like the Central Industrial Security Force, I-T department and Customs are maintaining a special vigil against the movement of huge cash, especially in the denomination of the recently demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes to check their misuse for tax evasion and hawala dealings.
