Flood alert along the Bhavani river

A flood alert has been sounded in the area on the banks of Bhavani River and people have been asked to move to safer places.
The catchment area of the river was experiencing heavy rains for the last two days, resulting in huge inflow into it, which could result the river in spate, official sources said.
Accordingly, people in Sirumugai, Karamadai and Mettupalayam in the district and also those living in low lying areas of the banks, were asked to move to safer places, as there was the possibility of gushing of rain waters in the area.
Some areas in nearby Nilgiris District are also experiencing good rains for the last two days, they said.
