Australia's foreign minister today briefed students here about various educational exchange opportunities available in her country.
"Australia is the second most popular destination in the world for international students and last year there were 70,000 enrolments from India for students to study in our universities, in our institutions and we have some of the best in the world," Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said.
She said that though technological adaptability is a must in this day and age time but an individual's ability to communicate should not be taken away by machines.
"This is a time of unprecedented change and we see technological advancements disrupting the way we live, the way we communicate and the way we work.
"At a time when we see an increase in robotics, automation and artificial intelligence, technological adaptability is a must but an individual's ability to communicate should not be taken away by machines," Bishop said in an interaction with students.
Bishop is on a two-day visit to India during which she called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also met her Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj to take forward bilateral engagement on defence and security issues.
She made the comments on the importance of "communication skills" while addressing students on the subject 'Careers of future' at the Shiv Nadar School here.
"We can see that the jobs and careers of the future are going to be very different. A decade later, at least 65 per cent of students today will end up working in an industry which has not even been thought of. So the challenge before the education system is to prepare students for a future which is quite unknown," she said.
