Panic gripped residents in Lakhanpur village in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh after abandoned foetuses were found in the area, the police said today.
The residents claimed that the foetuses were thrown in a forest area after illegal abortion. The police has removed the foetuses and sent them for a post-mortem examination.
"The number of foetuses could be one or two. The correct number can be ascertained only after the post-mortem report is obtained. Most of the foetuses were in a semi-rotten state,"
