The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today attacked the BJP and NDMC for changing the colour of footpath stripes to 'saffron' and accused the party of playing with people's lives.
The party also alleged that Municipal corporations in the national capital and government agencies were "discriminatory" towards AAP and removing its posters and not the BJP's.
"The BJP is busy pleasing Narendra Modi which is why the NDMC has resorted to painting the stripes on the footpath from black and yellow to the party's colour.
"This is being done despite objections from the traffic police. The black and yellow stripes, which is a norm across the world, helps drivers when the visibility is low. The BJP is playing with the lives of people and in the area where it lost its leader Gopinath Munde in an accident," said party's Delhi convener Ashutosh.
The party also threatened to undertake agitations, seek legal course and even approach the Election Commission if necessary action was not taken to change the colour.
Many footpaths in the Lutyen's zone are being given a fresh coat of colour from black and yellow to pink and green. The AAP has been accusing the BJP of using the party's colour. The BJP flag has saffron and green colours.
"The civic corporations have been targeting our party and tearing of our posters on the pretext of Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan. But what about the posters of the BJP and the Congress.
"When the civic workers go to remove the posters and hoardings put up by BJP councillors, they threaten them while the Aam Aadmi Party posters are being removed," Ashutosh added.
He said the party would also take up the matter with the Election Commission.
