Foreign currency, gold seized at airport in Tiruchy; 2 held

: Foreign currency equivalent to Rs 17.45 lakh was seized from a passenger bound for Kuala Lumpur from the airport here, air intelligence officials said Tuesday.

Riaz Ahmed was carrying American dollars, Australian dollars, Euros and dirhams and was detained Monday night for interrogation, the officials said.

In another incident, gold worth Rs 2.91 lakh was confiscated from a passenger who arrived from Kuala Lumpur, they said adding that he was identified as Nazar.
