Armed smugglers fired at Fire Watchman Jitendra Mahto and Tiger Tracker Dharmdev Mahto last night in Jatashankar forest range when they had rushed to the VTR upon informed that a fire had broken out there, VTR Director Santosh Tiwari said.
Jitendra Mahto died on way to a hospital, while Dharmdev Mahto was admitted to the PMCH at Patna, he said.
The forest guards and the district police were carrying out raids to nab the assailants, Tiwari said.
