Additional Superintendent of Police Vinayprkash Paul told reporters that Rinku (37), a nephew of the former MP, was nabbed on the basis of a tip-off at Devguradiya intersection on Bypass road.
He was heading to a relative's house in nearby Mahu village, Paul said.
Rinku, who already has 12 criminal cases registered against him, was involved in real estate business and wanted to bump off the trader to gain dominance in the sand trade in Madhya Pradesh, the ASP said.
Paul also said that police had found evidence of Rinku's involvement in a case of murder in Hoshangabad district and in the kidnapping for ransom of a petrol pump owner from Dhamnod in Dhar district. Further inquiries are on, he added.
