Former village head commits suicide over debt, crop loss in UP
Press Trust of India Bareilly A former village head allegedly committed suicide here after consuming poisonous substance over debt and crop loss in the untimely rains and hailstorm in UP, official said today.
According to the District Magistrate Gaurav Dayal, former head of Milak Majhara village consumed poisonous substance yesterday
Shishupal left a suicide note in which he blamed an officer in Khaki and village industries official for his condition, DM said.
The former head had taken a loan of Rs 33,000 in 1995 that rose to Rs 80,000 against which a recovery certificate was issued. Besides, 16 bigha crops were also damaged in the calamity, his family members said.
The DM said a recommendation for financial assistance to the family will be made to the government and cause of death will be probed.
The family took the body without any post-mortem, police said.
