Chirag Patel, Nitin Patel, Aniket Kanpure and Sailesh Patel kidnapped Raj Nisad (21), a budding script-writer and student of Live Wire institute and assaulted him, police said.
According to Tardeo police here, Nisad came in contact with Chirag Patel while studying at the institute. After learning that Nisad was from a rich family, Patel planned to kidnap him for ransom, police said.
On December 4, Chirag left with Nisad for Igatpuri in Nasik district on the pretext of introducing him to a film producer. Chirag's friends Nitin and Aniket Kanpure accompanied them.
Next day they took Nisad to Kasara ghat, took away his mobile and other belongings, and dumped him into valley after assaulting him assuming that he was dead, police said.
"Later they contacted Nisad's father and asked for a ransom of Rs 7 lakh," said the police officer.
Police set a trap and nabbed Sailesh, and subsequently the other three. All the accused were from well-to-do families, police said.
