SP leader Balmukund had a dispute with student union president of Ganna Utpadak Mahavidyalay Gajendra Singh during Swami Vivekanand Jayanti celebrations yesterday, they said.
The SP leader alleged that he was beaten by Singh, they said.
Later, Singh and some others were detained by the police and former BJP MLA Chhatrapal Singh reached the police station to settle the matter, police said.
The supporters of both the leaders resorted to stone pelting at the police station when police tried to disperse those gathered there.
Four persons including the former MLA and student Union president have been arrested, Senior Superintendent of Police Satyendra Veer Singh said.
