The troops of the Red Horn Division in a joint operation with Assam police caught three militants belonging to the Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam (MULTA) at Devattar Kopati in Kokrajhar district last night, they said.
Three pistols and fake Indian currency notes were seized from the militants before they could execute an extortion drive in the area.
In another operation, an NDFB (Songbijit) militant was caught at Shantipur Market in Chirang district last night.
One grenade, four 7.62 mm live rounds of ammunition, a mobile phone and one Bhutan SIM card were seized from him, they said.
An arms dealer was also apprehended from Oxaiguri in Kokrajhar district and two country-made guns, a handmade pistol, 10 rounds of locally made ammunition and two crude bombs were seized from his possession, they said.
