The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the alleged recruitment examination racket in the Bihar State Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) arrested four more persons today.
The SIT arrested four persons who were running coaching institute or private school to lure candidates for BSSC examinations, Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj, supervising the SIT, told reporters.
BSSC Secretary Parmeshwar Ram and a data operator in the commission Avinash Kumar were already arrested in the wake of reports of paper leak before the clerks recruitment examination conducted by the Commission on February 5.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had yesterday announced cancellation of the examination.
The SSP said that on the basis of call details of mobile phone of the BSSC Secretary and others, four members of the racket were arrested.
"It has come to light that a whopping Rs 5-6 lakh was charged from each candidate for getting them through the examination for appointment of clerk in the state government," he said.
Over one lakh candidates were supposed to take the BSSC examination to be held in four phases. The racket was busted when the paper of the second phase examination was found available online ahead of the test on Sunday last.
The first phase was held on January 29, second on February 5 and two more phases were slated for February 19 and February 26.
The SSP said that one of the arrested Rameshwar Kumar who twice failed in matriculation and Intermediate level was running a coaching institute to lure candidates.
The SSP did not rule out the possibility of the racket being active out of Bihar too.
The BSSC scandal follows the toppers' scam in the state plus two exam in 2016.
