The girl reportedly tried to commit suicide today by dousing herself with kerosene and setting herself ablaze. However, neighbours doused the flames and rushed her to a hospital here.
Police said the girl had fallen in love with the man residing near her grandmother's house and used to contact him frequently over phone.
The mother claimed the man had forcibly taken her daughter to his house a couple of days back and sexually assaulted her.
