Eight anti-social elements came on motorbikes last evening and attacked one Moloy Sarkar with sharp weapons who was sitting with his nephew on a bridge at Sattari area of Englishbazar.
When his nephew tried to resist them, they hurled bombs and shot at them, injuring the duo.
Police said the incident was carried out by a rival gang to avenge the handing over of their leader to the police yesterday in which Moloy Sarkar was believed to played a role.
Police said one of the friends had been targetted by a rival gang.
All the injured have been admitted to Malda Medical College and Hospital.
