Four Points, a brand of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, will be doubling its footprint in the country over the next five years as it announced plans to open three new properties.
The new properties will come up in Bhopal, Vijayawada and the Vembanad Lake in Kerala, the company said in a statement today.
Dilip Puri, MD, India and Regional Vice-President - South Asia at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, said, "India is still an 'under-hoteled' market, and the demand for high-caliber lodging is expected to exceed current supply for at least the next three to five years."
Starwood currently operates nine Four Points hotels across the country in Agra, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Dehradun, Jaipur, Pune, Mumbai, New Delhi and Visakhapatnam.
Seven other hotels are in the pipeline at Dahej (Gujarat), Gurgaon, Tirupati, Vadodara, Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Hyderabad and Tiruchirappalli.
Sudeep Jain, Vice-President - Acquisitions and Development for South Asia, said tier 2 markets provide untapped growth opportunities for us, particularly for Four Points.
Globally, Four Points is experiencing "incredible" growth momentum, having recently crossed its 200th operating hotel milestone, the statement said.
Four Points, Starwood's largest brand, is set to grow its global footprint by 50 per cent in the next five years and India will continue to play a key role in driving this growth momentum for the brand, it added.
While Four Points operates over 200 hotels in nearly 40 countries, its parent Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc is one of the leading hotel and leisure companies in the world with over 1,200 properties spanning 100 countries and over 1,80,000 employees at its owned and managed properties.
Starwood operates hotels, resorts and residences under its brands like St Regis, The Luxury Collection, Westin, Le Meridien, Sheraton, Four Points by Sheraton, Aloft, Element and the recently introduced Tribute portfolio.
