Freight traffic up by over 4 per cent

Railways has carried 267.68 million tonnes (MT) of freight traffic during April-June 2014 period as against 256.79 MT carried in the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 4.24 per cent, accoding to Railway ministry data.
Railways transported 87.14 MT freight in June this year as against 84.95 MT carried by it during the same period last year, showing an increase of 2.58 per cent, the data revealed.
