Fresh summons to Tamil actor, composer over 'beep song'

Fresh summons were today issued by the city police to Tamil film actor Simbu and composer Anirudh Ravichandran to appear before them on January 2 over a controversial 'Beep song', allegedly containing vulgar lyrics denigrating women.
Acting on a complaint from All India Democratic Women Association about the song, police had registered an FIR and issued summons asking the two to appear before them on December 19 but Simbu had sought a month's time.
T Rajender, father of Simbu, by a letter had sought one month time for appearance, while Anirudh, thorugh his lawyers, had stated that he neither composed nor rendered the song and sought the FIR against him to be revoked.

Rejecting their pleas, the Race Course Police station issued fresh summons to both asking them to appear before it on January 2 for inquiry, police said.
The duo had also been booked by the cyber wing of Chennai police in connection with the song.
