The high powered committee of the Meghalaya Assembly has decided to float fresh tender with two conditions for the construction of the the new Assembly building at Mawdiangdiang.
Speaker Donkupar Roy who chaired the committee told reporters yesterday that the committee had added two conditions for the bidders to participate in the tender.
"The bidders who are interested must have the experience of completing similar projects like Raj Bhawan, chief ministers residence or any other government institutes. The committee has also decided to raise the security deposit three times higher for the bidders, Roy said.
The conditions were set as in the last bid a bidder quoted a rate 15 per cent lower than the bid value, he said.
Stating that the allocated budget for the new Assembly building is Rs 140 crore, Roy said he was hopeful that the project would be completed within the current tenure.
"In three years time the session will take place in the new Assembly building," he said.
Meghalaya has no permanent Assembly building after the 125-year-old heritage building at Khyndailad was reduced to ashes in a devastating fire in 2001.
Roys predecessor had identified an 80 acres land at Mawdiangdiang for the project.
