: Lt Governor Kiran Bedi has said that government officials should ensure that funds allocated to departments concerned are spent effectively and judiciously.
A release from Lt Governor's office said today that Kiran Bedi was on a visit to Karaikal yesterday to acquaint herself with the working of the 'Hand in Hand', a Non Governmental Organisation in the region, which had embarked on segregation of waste.
She also had an insight into the budget proposals for Karaikal.
The NGO is engaged in door to door segregation and collection ofsolid waste through sanitary workers and supervisors.
After listening to a power point presentation by District Collector Parthiban, Bedilater had an official meeting on the status of revised budget estimates for Karaikalin 2015-16.
She told the officials their concern should not be restricted to spending the budget allocations and that the departments should utilise all allocations in a judicious and effective manner.
The power point presentation also highlighted budget estimates envisaged for Karaikal in the 2017-18 fiscal.
The release said Bedi also told the officials to critically analyse if the budget allocation was absolutely necessary, augment resources and endeavour to utilise Central funds to the maximum extent.
Protective insurance cover for farmers such as 'fasal bima yojana' should be encouraged, she said.
