Gaitonde painting goes missing, police complaint lodged

World famous artist Vasudeo Gaitonde's painting, estimated to cost around Rs 50 crore, has allegedly gone missing from Nirlon House in Worli here for which a complaint has been lodged with Mumbai police.
A complaint in this regard has been lodged at Worli Police Station yesterday, DCP Ashok Dudhe said.
Police are probing the matter, he added.
The complainant is Nirlon Ltd's prominent share holder businessman Janak Mathuradas, who spotted a similar painting at an exhibition in New York, police said.
After spotting Gaitonde's artwork which used to be in the board room of Nirlon House, he gave a written complaint to Worli police.
The complainant told police that the painting has been stolen. The painting was created in 1960 and costs around Rs 50 crore, he said.
