Gang of highway robbers held in Odisha

With the arrest of four robbers today, the police claimed to have busted an inter-district gang involved in looting trucks on highways.
The arrested were identified as Suresh Das (23) of Haridaspur-Kodala, Badal Sahani (31) of Kolha, Ratanta Jena (35) of Kaduamagara and Jitendra Kumar Barik (22) of Khatuapatana village in Jajpur district, they said, adding that a country-made pistol was recovered from them.
Police had recovered a stolen truck from a garage at Paradeep and arrested two persons.
Interrogating the duo, police picked up the kingpin Suresh Das of the gang a couple of days back.
During interrogation, the arrested persons confessed their involvement in three cases of truck loot on highways in Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur and Sundargarh district.

The gang members were arrested under relevant sections of the IPC and the Indian Arms Act and produced before a local court which remanded them to judicial custody, police said.
