Actor Garret Dillahunt is set to be a part of FOX's upcoming "X-Men"-related series "The Gifted".
The actor will play the villainous Roderick Campbell a.K.A. Ahab, an intimidating mutant researcher contracted by the Sentinel Services with a morally dubious mission, according to Deadline.
In the comics, the character is depicted as a psychologist and acquaintance of Moira McTaggart.
Created by Walt Simonson and Jackson Guice, Campbell made his first appearance in "Fantastic Four Annual" #23 in July of 1990.
He discovered that in the alternate future of Earth-811 ("X-Men: Days of Future Past"), ruled by Apocalypse, he became the evil mutant-hunter known as Ahab.
To change his fate, Campbell later created an army of mutant trackers called the Hounds which ironically resulted in the undesired future coming true.
"The Gifted" tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers.
Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.
Matt Nix is writing the script while Bryan Singer is directing the pilot.
Also starring Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, Natalie Alyn Lind, Percy Hynes White, Jamie Chung, Emma Dummont, Sean Teale, Blair Redford and Coby Bell, "The Gifted" will premiere on October 2.
