DNA test would be conducted to identify the involvement of culprits in the Gaya gangrape case, police said today.
A group of armed youths tied a man to a tree and raped his wife and 15-year-old daughter in Gaya district on June 13. The family was waylaid while they were crossing the area on a motorcycle near Sondiha village of the district, police said.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), CID, Binay Kumar said that evidences are being collected to carry out scientific investigation in the case.
"The police would conduct DNA test of victims' clothes and other exhibits collected from the site of the incident and match them with the accused persons in order to identify and ascertain the real culprits," the ADG said.
So far, three persons have been arrested in the case, the Magadh Range DIG Vinay Kumar had said, adding that two of them belonged to Sonediha village while the other hailed from Mangraur, a neighbouring village.
A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Patna had on June 15 visited the site of the incident to collect samples and evidence in the gangrape case, he had said.
The FSL team also collected the clothes of both the victims and the arrested suspects for scientific investigation in the case, Kumar said.
The police have set up three separate teams to investigate the case, Kumar said, noting that a charge sheet would be filed soon in a court with a formal plea for speedy trial in the case.
