"You should make this college a model institution so that it is remembered by generations to come," he told the students at the inauguration ceremony.
The college, which requires another year to have its own campus, has 293 seats in Arts, 97 in Commerce, 86 in Mathematics and 85 in Biological Science.
Director (College Education) Naveen Jain said the admission process had been completed and 561 students were admitted.
Classes for the maiden session had commenced at the college's temporary accommodation at Chianpura Secondary School, he said.
