Germany opens honorary consulate in the city

Germany today said it is keen to partner with Kerala in many aspects, including in academic, culture and scientific fields and wants more companies to invest in the state.
"Germany is keen to partner with Kerala in many aspects. We want to have cooperation in academic, culture and scientific fields. We want more German companies to invest in the state. We want more German tourists to visit Kerala," German Consul General Margit Hellwig-Boette said.
She was speaking after the Honorary Consulate of Germany was opened here by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Hellwig-Boette said the Consulate would bring the already outstanding ties between Kerala and Germany to a new level.

Speaking on the occasion, Vijayan said the Consulate would strengthen the presence of Germany in Kerala.
He said the new LDF government that came to power five months back has a vision.

"We want to make Kerala a developed state. There is no compromise on quality and I am sure a country like Germany to a great extent can help Kerala in this regard," he added.
He also spoke of the existing cooperation between Kerala and German companies in renewable energy and in other sectors.
Syed Ibrahim took oath as the new German Consul at the ceremony.
He is an IT-entrepreneur and the Honorary Representative of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce.
