There were reports that the "Haider" star got engaged to a Delhi-based college girl and the couple were planning to get hitched by December this year.
"Marriage is on the cards sometimes towards the end of the year. I refrain from getting into details. I hope you respect that. I thought it was important for me to acknowledge it in front of the media, so I am doing this," Shahid, 34, told reporters at an event here.
"Other than that I am just a normal guy and she is a normal girl. We should treat it like something that is normal and regular. And I am very happy to announce this," said the actor, who is currently busy shooting "Udta Punjab".
Shahid was earlier in a long term relationship with actress Kareena Kapoor till their split in 2007.
