Defending Agra conversions, a senior VHP functionary today said that it was 'Ghar Wapsi' and not conversion, and asserted that the programme would be held.
"The secularists are making hue and cry over Agra 'Ghar Wapsi'. Those involved (converted) there were Hindus earlier and had converted as Muslims due to fear. We are not involved in conversion but 'ghar-vapsi'," VHP joint secretary general Vinayakrao Deshpande said addressing a meeting of VHP memebrs.
Alleing that Christian missionaries were involved in conversion of poor Dalits by luring them, Deshpande said that a thousand years ago, everyone was Hindu in India but Hindus divided after Muslim attackers came here.
"We will surely ensure 'Ghar Wapsi' of those Hindus, who were foricible converted as Muslims," he added.
On Ram temple issue, Deshpande said that temple will soon be constructed there in Ayodhya.
"The temple is there. We have to make it a grand," he said.
