The 1984 film starred Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis and Bill Murray as university-based parapsychologists who become ghost-busters. The film was made for USD 30 million and ended up grossing nearly USD 300 million worldwide.
A restored and remastered version of the film will release in over 700 locations in the US and Canada for a limited period, beginning August 29, reported E! News.
"'Ghostbusters' is still one of our studio's most beloved franchises - I was lucky enough to work on the release of the film on its first run, so it's a real thrill for me to see that it's still connecting with audiences everywhere," said Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution for Sony Pictures, in a statement.
