Girl found dead, family suspects rape and murder

The body of a 14-year-old Dalit girl was found hanging from a tree in Jewar area today with her family alleging that she was raped and murdered.
The minor girl, a resident of Haryana, who had come here to a relative's house here, was missing since last night, police said today.
She went to participate in the procession of Dauji fair and did not return home, they said.
The villagers spotted the minor hanging from a tree this morning.
Family members and villagers alleged that the girl was kidnapped and raped before murder. The villagers, thereafter blocked the traffic on Jewar road for an hour demanding the immediate arrest of her killers, police said.

The protest was called off after the assurance by senior police officers to take action against people involved in the crime.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, police said, adding that several persons have been detained for questioning.
