The incident took place yesterday after the girl lodged a complaint against her lover, belonging to another community, alleging that he asked her to convert before getting married to him, Station House Officer Alka Singh said.
The girl, hailing from Bulandshahr, had come to Meerut two years ago and got into a relationship with a youth identified as Awash Saifi, police said.
However, the girl alleged that Saifi had hidden his original identity from her.
The girl refused to convert and filed a police complaint against Saifi.
Following this, Saifi along with his friend Aman Chaudhary and other accomplices kidnapped the girl from her friend's place, police said.
Hours after the girl's kidnap, police rescued her and four persons including Saifi and Aman were arrested.
