The girl was standing outside her house watching locals singing folk songs when Raj Kumar, under the influence of liquor, tried to drag her, SP Mahoba Hari Chander said.
When the girl raised an alarm, the youth hit her and rushed to his house to bring kerosene which he sprinkled on her and set her on fire, Chander said.
The girl has been admitted to the government hospital where her condition is stated to be serious.
