The accused, Mrityunjay Mondal (21), visited his friend, a teenaged girl, when her parents were not at home at Udaypally this morning, police said.
He took the girl to an under-construction building on pretext of an outing and allegedly tried to sexually assault her, they said.
After the girl's brother returned home around noon, he did not find her sister home and started a search. When he reached the construction site, he found that the accused was trying to sexually assault her, police said.
Later, the family lodged a complaint on the basis of which the trio, all residents of the same locality, were detained and after questioning the accused person was arrested, police said.
