Goa Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar today said his department aims to seek private participation to implement the master plan proposed to promote Goan culture through village stays for travellers.
The master plan, which is being drafted, aims to provide quality and diversified offerings to tourists, while safeguarding and improving the tourism and general socio-economic interest of Goan stakeholders, Ajgaonkar said in the state Assembly today.
He was replying to a question raised by Chandrakant Kavlekar and Clafacio Dias (both of the Congress).
The master plan proposes village stays under the culture and heritage programmes.
The elements to be undertaken for promoting village stays include identification of a village based on authentic features, with emphasis on maintenance of Goan tradition and culture, Ajgaonkar said in a written reply tabled on the floor of the House.
"The aim of the master plan is to seek innovative means of financing, that is private participation, CSR initiative of companies, crowd funding, hotel chains and multinational organisations developing model tourist experience villages and others," he said.
