Goa mineral ore exporters welcome SC ruling

Goa Mineral Ore Exporters Association has said that the Supreme Court's decision will bring clarity on many issues concerning the industry.
"GMOEA welcomes the Supreme Court's order to resume mining in Goa as the mineral industry had been a strong backbone of development for the state of Goa," GMOEA secretary Glen Kalavampara told PTI today.
The apex court had dealt with numerous aspects which would give clarity to the industry. It had also given directives to the Government to expedite for early resumption of sustainable mining in accordance with the applicable acts and rules, he noted.
"The mining industry is hopeful that the same would be done expeditiously," Kalavampara said.

The Supreme Court on Monday allowed mining in the state with several conditions like shutting down of mines within one kilometres of the wildlife sanctuaries and national parks.
