Goa Speaker youngest presiding officer of Assembly in the

At 44, BJP legislator Pramod Sawant is currently the youngest Speaker of Legislative Assembly in the country.
Sawant, two-time MLA from Pale, was elected as the Speaker of Goa Assembly after Manohar Parrikar-led government took over following last month's elections.
Sawant defeated Congress' Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco in the election for the post.
The list of Speakers of Legislative Assemblies in the country, released by the Goa Legislature Department today, reveals that Sawant is the youngest of them all.
Kailash Meghwal, the 83-year-old Speaker of Rajasthan Assembly, is the oldest presiding officer among them.
"It is a proud moment to learn that I am the youngest Speaker of Legislative Assembly in India. Though youngest amongst all, it is my responsibility to ensure that sanctity of Assembly is maintained and all the rules are followed," Sawant told PTI.
