Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today asserted that his government was committed to bring the government closer to the people and of creating a more transparent, efficient and accountable administration responsive to the needs of the people.
The ambitious 'Raijor Padulit Raijor Sarkar' programme was launched to bring the administration to the doorsteps of the people and the use of Information Technology can bring the government much closer to the people, the Chief Minister said at a function here to launch his official website.
The launching of the website together with The Assam Right to Public Services Act would help bring about major transformation in the public delivery system, he said.
The Chief Minister further underscored the need for making good use of the Information Technology for the benefit of the people as it was a powerful tool for bringing in positive changes in society.
"Information Technology helps to tone up the functioning of the administration by providing vital information on time enabling the administration to act swifter and faster. This will provide relief and succour to people in distress," he said.
The website would include among others many innovative features like public grievance redressal system, connecting more social networking sites, face to face with the Chief Minister from all district and sub divisional headquarters, web cast live streaming, SMS integration, payment gateway integration for Chief Minister's Relief Fund and provision for making the website multilingual.
