Scaramucci, the Wall Street financier who joined the administration last week, claimed that he has "a thousand per cent" authorisation from US President Donald Trump to do so.
"I am going to fire everybody, that is how I am going to do it," Scaramucci said.
Soon thereafter Michael Short, one of the assistant press secretaries to the US President in the White House press office, resigned. His resignation came not before the media reported that Short has been fired, thus making him the first casualty of the new White House Communication Director.
"I have resigned, effective immediately. It was a privilege to serve the President of the United States," Short said in a brief text message, which came hours of confusion and rumors about he being fired.
It started with Politico reporting that Scaramucci saying that he has fired Short.
The assistant press secretary told the CNN that he has not been informed about it.
"This is actually a terrible thing. Let's say I am firing Michael Short today. The fact that you guys know about it before he does really upsets me as a human being and as a Roman Catholic," he said.
