Gold worth over Rs 42.7 lakh was seized from five passengers, including two women, arrived from Dubai at Kozhikode international airport today, a top official said here today.
Acting on a tip off that some carriers have hidden gold in compound form in their body,officers of Air Intelligence Unit kept surveillance on passengers, Customs Commissioner Sumit Kumar said.
He said the officers intercepted the five passengers and a personalsearch resulted in the recovery of gold weighing over 1.3 kg from them.
He said the Customs sleuths in Kozhikode Airport made the seizure a day after they effected seizure of over 1.5 kg gold worth 47.3 lakh from four passengers arrived from the Gulf countries.
