seized from a car when they were checking vehicles near Avudaiyar Koil near here and two persons were taken into custody in this connection, police said here today.
The night police patrol team who checked the vehicle on suspicion noticed the gold in the vehicle. Customs officials who rushed to the spot found that the gold had been brought from Meemisal sea coast.
It was suspected that the gold might have come from Sri Lanka and was meant for some customers in Madurai and Tiruchirappalli.
