Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and filmmaker Shoojit Sircar today said it would be good if cinema halls play the national anthem prior to the screening of films.
The 73-year-old actor said the feeling of listening to the anthem is always great and it would be good if such initiatives are taken.
"The tradition of playing national anthem in the theaters has been there for so many years. When I was studying in Delhi, we used to go for watching movies and when it used to play, we felt great.
"I believe it's still happening in theatres. I don't know whether it now happens here. I don't know why it does not happen, but if it happens, then it will be good," Bachchan said.
Sircar said the best part about watching movies in Mumbai is that before every film national anthem is played.
"I go to a theatre in Mumbai and whenever the national anthem is played it gives me goosebumps. I feel so proud being an Indian. I ask all my friends from Kolkata and Delhi to come to Mumbai and watch a film in theatre.
"The energy the national anthem gives can't be explained. I will be more than happy if national anthem plays in all the theaters of the country," he said.
Recently, actor Harsh Nagar, who is making his film debut with "Love Day", approached the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting the national anthem to be played in cinema halls.
