It was on this day in 1989 that Quintanilla released her first studio album, titled 'Selena'.
One of the most celebrated Mexican-American performers in the late 20th century, she earned the title of Queen of Tejano music.
Perla Campos, global marketing lead for Google Doodles and project manager for the Selena Quintanilla Google Doodle, illustrator/art Lead Kevin Laughlin and their team worked on the artwork for two years.
They sat with the designers, animators and Quintanilla's family to ensure the Doodle told the singer's story in a way that did justice to her true spirit, reported Billboard.
The studio album debuted at No 1, her chart topper, on the Billboard 200.
Quintanilla died at the age of 23, when she was shot to death by Yolanda Saldivar, her friend and former manager of her Selena Etc boutiques on March 31, 1995.
