Accusing the government of demolishing educational edifice and crushing job opportunities in the country, the Congress on Thursday said the time has come for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to go back from "event management" to addressing the issues concerning education and unemployment.
Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said the Modi government is fast turning the demographic dividend into a demographic disaster through its "lopsided policy".
"The BJP has demolished the educational edifice, the employment apparatus in India. This is a government that is fast turning demographic dividend into a demographic disaster.... Time for Prime Minister to go back from event management and stage-managed 'Howdy' programme to addressing education and unemployment," he told reporters.
He was referring to 'Howdy Modi' event in Houston in the US.
"Modi's emphatic proclamation in the United States that 'everything is fine' in India is a big bold white lie, weaved to fool not just the international community, but 130 crore Indians," he said.
"Amidst the deliberate diversions, distractions and digressions, a stark ground reality has emerged in the form of two scathing reports that have once again proven the monumental crisis on jobs and education that India faces. This crisis has been the sole handiwork of the BJP government at the Centre in the last 5 years and 4 months," the Congress leader alleged.
Surjewala alleged that in BJP's dictionary facts could be termed as fiction. "But in reality, these are plain dark facts which are a clear evidence of Modi Govt's mammoth failures to tackle both higher education and jobs. India is at the cusp of falling behind."
