Replying to a question, the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Vijay Sampla, said that an expert panel has been constituted for making an in-depth study of the problems being faced by the transgender community and suggesting suitable measures for ameliorating the same.
The committee had submitted its report earlier in January of this year, he added.
Responding to another question, Sampla said that a scheme was being devised for the rehabilitation of beggars and destitute persons. National consultation meetings were held with the representatives of the central and state governments, NGOs, institutes and individual experts to discuss the issues related to begging.
