VIB officials said the arrested section officer identified as Sanjay Kumar who had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from Saharsa district commandant of Home Guards, Anuj Kumar for regularisation of service and withdrawal of salary arrears.
"Anuj complained to us about it. We verified the matter and found it to be true when Sanjay accepted Rs 3,000 as the first instalment of bribe demand. Later on a trap team was constituted under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ali Ansari who arrested the section officer," a VIB official said.
The VIB has conducted 26 traps this year so far in which 28 persons, mostly state government servants, have been arrested so far on bribery charges, they said.
