Fisheries Inspector Lakhanlal Ahirwar (46) posted in Narharpur was caught while accepting bribe from the complainant Naradram Korram for awarding him lease for fisheries, an ACB official told PTI.
Korram, President of Gondwana Fisheries Cooperative Committee and a native of Dumarpali village had filed an application seeking lease of Biranpur reservoir in the region for fish farming last year to the local Janpad Panchayat.
The application was subsequently forwarded to Kanker district Collector who then sent it to the fisheries department after approval, the official said.
The fisheries inspector Ahirwar demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 from the applicant.
Following this, the complainant approached ACB which laid a trap and caught the official while accepting the first instalment of the bribe - Rs 10,000 at his official residence in Narharpur village, he said.
A case under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 has been registered against the accused, the official added.
