Govt to hold two-day symposium from tomorrow on transparency

The Centre will hold a two-day international symposium here starting tomorrow, which will include speakers from Pakistan, to discuss global best practices to improve transparency and public service delivery system.
The 'International Symposium on Excellence in Public Service/Public Administration' will be inaugurated by Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
"The aim of the international symposium is to showcase global best practices in public administration and public service delivery.
"The objectives are to foster a spirit of excellence in public administration, disseminate and learn from the innovative best practices and extraordinary achievements in improving public administration and governance, and facilitate replication of high impact initiatives," a statement issued today by the Ministry of Personnel said.
The speakers from around 25 countries including Pakistan, Japan, Bangladesh, Brazil, Bahrain, Canada, Dubai, Korea, Malaysia, Senegal, Singapore, Tanzania, Turkey, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay, among others, will present their best practices and reform initiatives, it said.
The symposium, which is being organised by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme, will be structured around select themes including global best practices in public administration reforms, improving the delivery of public services and improving transparency, accountability and responsiveness in public service.
The participants will include senior officers, representatives from central and state government, international organisations, central and state training institutions, etc, it said.
